Before & After School

School Programs

Chess in the Schools is based on one-hour enrichment classes offered before or after school hours.

Children spend the program playing chess while developing concentration, creativity and abstract-thinking skills. Lessons and tournaments are presented in a fun, entertaining way using chess sets of different sizes and colors, puzzle activities, chess notation and technology such as chess software, laptops and smart boards. At the end of the program, each student receives an award recognizing their performance.

The program is taught by Carolina Blanco, a Women International Chess Master, former member of Venezuela’s Olympic chess team and three-time Pan-American champion.

June 1–5 · The Wood Acres School, Marietta, GA

K–5 students · Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced · Full day, 9:00 AM–3:00 PM · Registration through The Wood Acres School.

June 8–12 · The King's Academy, Woodstock, GA

K–12 students · Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced · Full day, 9:00 AM–3:00 PM · Registration through The King's Academy.

June 15–18 · The Wood Acres School, Marietta, GA

K–5 students · Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced · Full day, 9:00 AM–3:00 PM · Registration through The Wood Acres School.

June 22–26 · Mount Pisgah Christian School, Roswell, GA

1st–6th grade students · Half day, 9:00 AM–12:00 PM · Registration through Mount Pisgah Christian School.
